BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Christian singer Steven Curtis Chapman says the accident that killed his daughter Maria in 2008 helps him understand the anguish of parents who lost children in last month's school shootings in Newtown, Conn.
Chapman and his family will share the stage tonight in Bridgeport, Conn., with Christian singers Toby Mac, Chris Tomlin, Laura Story, Mandisa, Casting Crowns and Building 429 for what's billed as "A Night of Hope and Healing."
Ten thousand free tickets have been handed out for the event, where worship will be led by the Rev. Louie Giglio and the Rev. Max Lucado.
Chapman says after his little girl was run over in the driveway of the family's home, the only thing worse than the pain they went through would have been to go through it without God. He says that's the comfort he hopes to share at tonight's concert.
