LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. - The dog that was hit by a vehicle is going home with his savior.
The beagle, now named Buster, was hit by a vehicle on I-470 on June 10. Army Iraq war veteran Aaron Schneider saw the injured dog and crossed three lanes of traffic, on foot, to rescue the animal.
He waited with the beagle for three hours for animal control.
Buster arrived at the Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners in Lee’s Summit in a lot of pain. He had five broken ribs, a broken windpipe, internal bleeding and had to undergo an emergency blood transfusion upon his arrival.
Now, Buster is feeling better and went home with Schneider.
“I’d like to get him spoiled with a bunch of toys,” Schneider said. “Get treat bags and that kind of stuff.”
He already has another dog, but Schneider said the two animals will get along fine.
