The overall health status in Northeast Ohio is improving, according to a newly released study from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin's Population Health Institute.

Cuyahoga County rose from no. 65 to no. 64 out of all 88 counties across Ohio.

The study measures two types of health outcomes: how long people live (length of life) and how healthy people feel while alive (quality of life) to determine the rankings.

Geauga, Lake, Medina, Richland, Ashtabula and Cuyahoga counties all improved from the 2015 rankings.

Meanwhile Lorain, Portage, Summit and Stark counties declined in overall health.

The annual report also addresses how healthy a county might be in the future based on the many factors that influence health. Some of those factors include smoking, drinking, obesity and alcohol-impaired driving deaths.

In those rankings Cuyahoga County declined. In 2015 it was ranked No. 50 and this year the county came in at No. 53.

Five other counties also declined in the health factors data.

The healthiest county in Ohio is Delaware meanwhile Pike ranked last.
