Don't Toss Out Your Wine Corks

Reuse Them For Everything From Gardening To Cooking

If you like wine, maybe you've accumulated a few corks. There are actually some creative uses for them rather than just tossing them.

If you have wrought iron pans, the metal handles can get hot so you can put a couple of wine corks in them to protect your hands. You may need to trim down the corks to make fit.

Corks can also be used for the backs of earrings. Many of us, lose the little rubber stoppers that go on the back of french wire earrings. Now, you can just tear off a little piece of cork, put it on the wire and you'll never lose another one.

If you are having a dinner party or wine tasting this summer, you can make place card holders with your wine corks. All you have to do is put slits in top of wine corks and slip in place card.

You can also cut your corks into discs, gluing them to the bottoms of pots for elevation to prevent moisture damage or to keep pots from scratching your floors.

If you enjoy container gardening, a handful of wine corks is a great thing to throw in the bottom of pots for drainage.

They can also be used as a decorative kind of mulch on top of your potted plants. So take another look at your corks, they're just waiting to be reused.
