CLEVELAND -- Mother's day is a great time to reflect on the plusses of motherhood and to remember your mom in your life. It's also a great time to give yourself a break and remember it's ok that you're not Wonder Woman.Psychologist Ellen Casper shared some wonderful points with NewsChannel5 anchor Lee Jordan and she wanted to share them with you. "Motherhood is such a complex concept. It's so many things. Most women dream about being mothers and growing little babies into adulthood. You begin this concept with only positive things in your mind thinking about all the joys about parenting a child. One of the surprises is that motherhood is a combination of pluses and the stresses and the difficult times when parenting is particularly challenging because your children are experiencing obstacles or difficulties in their own development. Motherhood is not just a series of upward steps but it's a series of steps that are a little bit all over the board."Some members of our NewsChannel5 family share their thoughts about motherhood. News anchor Tracy Carloss has been sharing her thoughts about motherhood and her daughter camille through her mom to mom blog on newsnet5. So what surprised her?"I think from the minute she was born the overwhelming amount of love you feel for this child followed immediately by the amount of worry. Emotionally I have changed. I cry at Hallmark commercials now and I never bothered me before. I was talking to my neighbor the other day that I can't get the house cleaned, I can't get the laundry done and I can't get anything done. She started to laugh and she said we are so much alike. Whether you work at home or work outside, your lives are really alike." Alicia Booth, Health Reporter"Being type "A" I have a list of things that need to be accomplished. Ever since I had a baby and a full-time job, every day there is always something left on the list and I am having a hard time with that. You can't be everything all at once and what you find is sometimes you have to drop what you're doing and just play with the baby and be with the baby. Everyone says it goes by so fast and I don't want it to go by when I am doing the laundry and the dishes." Meredith Kieger, director I think when you have a kid you have to decide that it's the area you concentrate on. So the house is a mess and I am not as dressed up as I would like to most days, but I have to be number one mom so I focus on that one. The kids don't care and I have learned not to care so much." Crenise Traywick, traffic "I have a daughter and I also have a son. They are completely different. One is very nice and calm and my son is surprisingly very hyper and energetic and just runs non stop all day long. It is rewarding but it is a job in itself."
