Reporter To Go Home By Weekend After Kidney Donation

POSTED: 7:16 am EDT September 12, 2007
UPDATED: 8:12 am EDT September 13, 2007

NewsChannel5's Jack Marschall underwent surgery to donate his kidney on Tuesday, and his wife, Sharon, said it was a success.

Marschall and his daughter, Lauren, are recovering at the Cleveland Clinic.

Marschall will likely go home before the weekend to continue his recovery. Doctors estimate his recovery time to be between two to four weeks.

All of this started when Marschall's brother-in-law needed a kidney. Marschall wasn't a match, but his daughter was.

Marschall's brother-in-law, Kenny, is also doing well. Doctors said the kidney started working immediately.

Although Lauren's kidney was given to her uncle, Marschall's kidney was donated to a stranger. That person's identity is not known.
