Members of the 82nd Airborne are known for their extensive combat training, but they can also carry a good tune.

NewsChannel5's Jonathan Costen reported that some of the soldiers from the 82nd will be in Lake County Monday night to make a special guest appearance at the Lake County Captains baseball game.

The 82nd Airborne boasts that within an 18-hour notice, it can be anywhere in the world. When many people think of these soldiers, they think of beret-sporting warriors who jump out of planes ready for fierce combat.

Many people don't know that they also sing. The songs the 82nd Airborne Chorus likes to sing range anywhere from spiritual and patriotic tunes to oldies and Michael Jackson favorites.

Westside Christian Academy is just one pit stop in their whirlwind tour of the Cleveland area. The singing soldiers are used as a recruiting tool.

"Anything you can do out in the civilian world you can do it in the military," said Spc. Jerome Coleman, a chorus member. "Don't just think that's your last resort. Uncle Sam is always there to back you up."

The troops' gift of singing is also being used to lift the spirit of the country in this time of war.

"There (are) troops wishing they were over there with their buddies," said Cpl. David Devine, of the 82nd Airborne Chorus. "I personally have friends over there right now and my hopes and prayers are with them."

The 82nd Airborne Chorus will perform the national anthem at the Captains game Monday night. On Tuesday, the chorus will put on more concerts at area schools. They will finish the day at Jacobs Field to once again sing the national anthem, this time before the Indians game.
