UPDATED: 12:42 pm EST November 26, 2007

An Indians pitcher suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash Saturday night, an Indians representative said.

Juan Lara, 26, was in the Dominican Republic when the SUV he was riding in was struck by a motorcycle.

Two people on the motorcycle were killed.

Lara was stopped at an intersection when he was struck on the driver's side. He was pinned inside the vehicle. Lara's girlfriend was with him at the time.

The left-hander made one appearance with the Indians in 2007. He spent most of the season in Buffalo.

He has been with the Tribe for nine years.

The Indians weren't able to provide specific details on the couple's condition. They do say Lara may need to be brought to the U.S. for surgery.
