Mambo In Seattle Pointed To Fayette Stakes

POSTED: 1:56 pm EDT October 7, 2008

(Sports Network) - Highly regarded three-year-old Mambo in Seattle is at Keeneland and being prepped for a possible start in the $150,000 Fayette Stakes. The 1 1/8 mile Fayette will be held on Saturday, October 25, the same day as the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita.

The Travers runner-up worked a half-mile at Keeneland on Tuesday in 51.40 with jockey Corey Lanerie aboard.

"This was his first work back since the Jockey Club Gold Cup and I just wanted to give him an easy half," trainer Neil Howard said. "He will stay here because I want to see how he trains on the Polytrack. Right now he is tentatively slated for the Fayette, but after he works next week, we will know more for sure."

A disappointing fourth in the Jockey Club Gold Cup at 4-1, Mambo in Seattle has won four of nine career starts and $400,741 for owners Wil S. Farish and Mrs. William Kilroy.
