Police investigate reported sexual assault of 14-year-old girl at Cleveland Heights high school

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - Cleveland Heights police are investigating a reported sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl at Cleveland Heights High School. 

The incident occurred Thursday around 12:45 p.m. A school official reported the incident Friday after a girl said she was sexually assaulted in a storage closet during school hours. 

A rape kit was issued and three juveniles have been identified in connection to the assault.

The Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District issued a statement on Tuesday about the incident: 

"We are aware of the incident and are currently conducting an investigation in conjunction with the University Heights Police Department. The students in question have been suspended indefinitely until the investigation into their actions is complete. The school district takes this matter very seriously, and we are cooperating with police in order to ensure the matter is investigated thoroughly."

The investigation is ongoing.
