A 9-year-old boy is dead after being struck by lightning in the area of Jefferson Township 341, the Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported.
According to Coshocton Sheriff Tim Rogers, around 12:35 p.m. Wednesday the office received a call from a local mother reporting her 9-year-old son had been struck by lightning and was unresponsive in the area of Jefferson Township 341.
Sheriff Rogers said his office as well as Coshocton County EMS and Walhonding Valley Fire Department were at the scene to assist EMS.
The child was taken to Coshocton County Memorial Hospital, Sheriff Rogers reported, and later died from the injury.
