Detectives from the Akron Police Department are investigating an officer-involved shooting.

The shooting occurred late Friday night on Wolf Ledges Parkway.

Two officers from the Summit County Drug Unit were working undercover when they saw suspicious drug activity in a parking lot.

The officers approached the suspect, Jesse L. Gooden of Akron. Gooden put his car in reverse and backed into the officer's car.

An officer fired his gun at Gooden as he tried to run the officer over while fleeing the scene, Akron police said.

Gooden will be charged with felonious assault. He is at a local hospital being treated for minor injuries.
