The tumultuous market is causing one of the nation's largest real estate dealers to ask local homeowners to drop their prices.

Coldwell Banker is making a move that's been unprecedented in its 100-year history.

Starting Friday and for the next 10 days, participating homeowners selling through Coldwell are instantly reducing home prices by 7.5 percent.

A home in University Heights that is selling for $156,000 will be offered at $144,000.

Seventy-nine homes through Coldwell Banker Hunter Realty are cutting prices and having open houses in nine northeast Ohio counties starting this weekend.

Howard Hanna Smythe Cramer reports September sales were up 10 percent.

Go to www.cbhunter.com for a list of the 79 homes.
