A nearly 2-hour standoff between Akron police and a robbery suspect came to an end Thursday afternoon.

Police said when they attempted to serve an arrest warrant at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday for aggravated robbery on Latroy Turner, 24, he barricaded himself in a home in the 800 block of Palmetto Avenue. The home is believed to be his girlfriend's.

Robbery Suspect Arrested After Standoff

Turner is accused of robbing a man at gunpoint Tuesday at the Radisson Hotel in Copley. Officials said he stole the man's wallet, wedding ring and computer. He also allegedly made the man undress and drink a pint of whiskey. The man said he was locked on the balcony of his hotel room.

Additionally, Turner is a suspect in another robbery at the Hilton in Fairlawn and a rape and robbery at the Quality Inn in Green.

The standoff involved officials from the Summit County Sheriff's Department, Akron police, Copley police, the U.S. Marshall's Office and the Fugitive Task Force.

Police pumped tear gas into the apartment and went in to arrest the suspect around 2:20 p.m. No shots were fired and no one was hurt during the standoff.
