Anchor, Sorority Sister Talks About Tubbs Jones

POSTED: 4:57 pm EDT August 20, 2008

When I think of Stephanie Tubbs Jones, the words fiery, energetic, passionate and loyal come to mind.

She's more than a congresswoman to me, she is my sorority sister of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and a dear friend.

She's what they call the real deal, and when I talked to her not long ago, she shared many things with me.

One thing she really wanted to clear up is a myth in regards to her commitment to business in northeast Ohio:

"Sometimes people want to believe that an African-American woman is not concerned about business. That I'm only concerned about issues that affect African-Americans and affect women. And I am.

"I wouldn't be a great African-American woman doing my job if I wasn't, but I'm also concerned about business, because if business does well in northeast Ohio, my constituents do well."
