Several sobriety checkpoints have been set up across northeast Ohio over the past few days to detect drunken drivers.

An OVI checkpoint set up on Manchester Road in Coventry Township netted 10 arrests for suspicion of drunken driving.

Officials said 688 vehicles pass through the checkpoint. Four people were also arrested for driving under suspension along with open container violations and possession of drugs.

Motorists are encouraged to designate a driver if they plan to drink.

Several checkpoints are planned throughout the area on the Fourth of July and over the weekend.
