Alex Pfister was charged with murder in connection with the stabbing death of his wife, Marileyda Pfister, at their home on Aquilla Road in Chardon Wednesday afternoon.

Officials said she had obtained a protection order against Pfister but for some reason, she went back to see him. Investigators do not know why.

Their three children, ages 15, 10, and 5, were home when the stabbing took place. It is not believed that the children viewed the stabbing.

Police have been called to the home before on domestic situations.

Pfister's bond was set at $500,000.
