1 Killed, 3 Injured In Car Crash

A 19-year-old Brecksville man died and three others were injured in an overnight crash in the Brecksville Metroparks.

A Cleveland Metroparks ranger spotted the car up against a tree just after 1 a.m.

The driver, Daniel L. Modic, was killed.

So far, no cause has been identified in the fatal crash.

Modic was a graduate was a St. Ignatius High School graduate.

He was out with some friends when he lost control of his car and crashed. The three people riding with him were injured. One passenger was still trying to call 911 when the ranger arrived.

Now friends and teachers at his old school are trying to make sense of the tragedy.

One of the people injured has been released from the hospital; the other two remain at MetroHealth Medical Center. There is no word on their conditions.
