A 31-year-old man was killed early Friday morning when he was ejected after his car struck a sound barrier on Interstate 90.

The single-car crash occurred around 2 a.m. near the Cahoon Road overpass in Westlake.

Police said Delon Hill, of Avon, was travelling westbound when he lost control, crossed the median into the eastbound lanes and hit the sound barrier on the south side of the highway.

Preliminary findings indicated Hill's car rolled over and Hill was ejected from the vehicle. He was dead at the scene.

Hill's passenger, 19-year-old Devonna Tucker, of Cleveland, was taken to St. John Westshore Hospital, where she is in intensive care.

Tucker was wearing a seat belt but it is unclear whether Hill was. Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash.
