ABC's Robin Roberts Ditches Wig
"Good Morning America" co-anchor Robin Roberts took her wig off during the news show Monday and says that it will stay off. Roberts, a breast cancer survivor, said it is finally time to let go of her wig because "spring time is a time of renewal and growth." She also referenced a song by R&B singer India Arie "I am not my hair" that spoke to her situation after losing her hair during chemotherapy and radiation. "I am the soul that lies within," said Roberts of Arie's lyrics. She added that it took a while to build up the courage. She said other survivors and her faith helped her liberation. "I was holding on desperately to the way I looked before cancer," she said. Roberts plans to donate the wig and have it auctioned off so that the proceeds can go to a charity that helps the uninsured. Her colleagues said that her hair is growing back quickly and she said she is using a product called hair fertilizer.
