Canadians Just Say No To Government's Pot

POSTED: 10:08 a.m. EDT April 30, 2004

Government pot stinks -- at least according to some medical marijuana smokers in Canada.

Pro pot activist Philippe Lucas said nearly one-third of patients have returned their government-supplied weed to Health Canada.

Although marijuana is an illegal drug in Canada, a 2001 law allows the use of the drug when the medical benefit outweighs the risk of its use.

Lucas said a high school student could grow better pot. He thinks the marijuana is weaker than the government claims.

The marijuana is produced under a government contract in an abandoned mine. Lucas said it's impossible to roll into a joint and is nearly black in color. Lucas claimed to have smoked the pot and said it's horrible.
