Slip On Slippers To Lose Weight
Woman Says She Lost A Dress Size
POSTED: 10:52 a.m. EDT October 24, 2001
LOS ANGELES -- Diet pills, exercise machines, diets to eat more of this or more of that. All promise to help you lose weight, but now there is new shoe on the diet market.
Yes, shoe.
There are slippers, "Get Slim Slippers," designed to help you lose weight. The slippers are designed by an acupuncturist and the maker says that the shoes work by targeting reflexology zones to help you slim down naturally, according to NewsChannel5.
Johnella Ellis said that she has lost weight by slipping on the slippers.
"I've lost a whole dress size from 11/12 to size 9/10, and I'm very happy," she said.
There is no scientific research to prove the product actually works.
Dr. Drew Francis, a licensed acupuncturist, believes that a clinical trial should be done with the slippers; nevertheless, there are a few common sense tips he pointed out.
"(If) you're going to be using these slippers and you're going to be eating ridiculous amounts of junk food all the time, it doesn't make a difference how much you wear these shoes," said Francis. "This is something that's going to be stimulating the
feet and are going to have an effect on reflexology."
For Ellis, losing weight wasn't the only reward.
"It just makes me feel good," she said. "When I put them on, I feel lighter and straighter. It's a good feeling."
