Cleveland police on Friday arrested a man suspected of shooting another man for defending a pregnant woman.

Demetrius Pressley was taken into custody at a relative's home on Eddy Road just before noon.

Police said Pressley shot 41-year-old Andre Dunn on Sunday, days after Dunn raced to the aid of a pregnant woman Pressley was beating near East 92nd Street and Superior. The woman and her baby were not seriously hurt.

Dunn's mother, Ruby, witnessed the shooting, which occurred when her son went to open the door of his East 80th Street home and the gunman opened fire.

"He opened this door. He got it about 4 inches and he just started shooting, he just started shooting. He didn't stop I guess until he shot 11 or 12 bullets," said Ruby Dunn.

Andre Dunn is recovering at Huron Hospital.

Pressley's whereabouts were discovered through a Crime Stoppers tip. Police said Pressley is a sex offender with a long history of violent crimes.
