Honey Baked Ham Recipes

Asparagus Gratin

Asparagus, fresh and in season, is the perfect vegetable to welcome in spring. Try it a new way by baking it with a delicious cheese and crumb topping.

  • 1 1/2 lbs. asparagus
  • 1/2 cup swiss cheese, finely shredded
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 tbsp. butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp. Josie's Dijon Mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 1/4 tsp. Pepper

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Snap off thick end of asparagus and discard. Simmer asparagus in boiling water about two minutes, until crisp and tender. Drain and place in baking dish.

In medium bowl, mix together Swiss cheese, bread crumbs, butter, mustard, salt and pepper. Sprinkle over asparagus.

Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until topping is golden brown. Makes five servings.

Timesaving tip: The topping can be made ahead of time and stored until ready to bake. Also, can be baked at the same time as the potatoes –both are baked at the same temperature.
