What's Dirtier? Your Dashboard Or Toilet Seat

If you complain about how dirty a car looks on the outside, you might be surprised on what's lurking inside.

Next time you sit in the driver’s seat, take a good look around you. It may seem clean but millions of germs are forming around you, NewsChannel5 sister station KNXV-TV in Phoenix reported.

In fact, a new study from microbiologists at Britain's Aston University shows your car dash could be as dirty as a toilet seat.

Reportedly, the typical car has 283 different types of bacteria in every square inch.

Researchers found the dirtiest part is the gear stick with 356 germs on a square centimeter.

One in four car owners polled for the study said their car was littered with trash.

Half of the drivers also admitted they would never let their home get into the same condition.
