CLEVELAND -- A local church that feeds needy Cleveland families received a $2,500 donation on Friday. The donation to the St. Augustine Catholic Church Hunger Center will help feed the people that come through its doors daily, but the need is far greater than that. For decades, the west side church has fed the hungry, but pantry cupboards are almost bare, and Thanksgiving Day is near.Sister Corita Ambro hopes food donations will come in, and said she realizes that the need this year is greater than in years past."Never before has it been this empty as this room is today. Not only for Thanksgiving, we also serve the whole year, so what I get at Christmas and Thanksgiving is the food that I use all year long," said Ambro. The church is located on West 14th Street in Tremont. Anyone who can donate food or money is asked to call 216-781-5530.To learn more about St. Augustine, click here.
