Yum! Cedar Point adding more food options for the upcoming season and Sling Shot ride

SANDUSKY, Ohio - Cedar Point is not only offering more new attractions for the upcoming season, including its Sling Shot ride,  the park is also offering some new food options for guests this year.

The park will now have a full service Starbucks, located in the former Donut Time. There will also be a Auntie Anne's and a Cinnabon, located in Challenge Park.

For lunch and dinner, guests will be able to dine at Chickie's and Pete's Sports Bar in the former Game Day Grille location. Chickie's and Pete's will feature local sports memorabilia and menu items such as Philly Cheese Steaks, lobster pie and crabfries.

Cedar Point is adding a Coca Cola freestyle station on the Gemini Midway and a Yogurt Plus near the new Pipe Scream and Lake Erie Eagles family rides.

Later in the summer, Cedar Point plans to open the new Sling Shot ride. It is a vertical thrill ride where riders are secured in an open air 2-person capsule before being launched nearly 360 feet into the sky at speeds of up to 62 miles an hour. After a brief feeling of weightlessness, riders will descend back towards the ground before catapulting back up and down until the capsule comes to rest back at the launching point. Sling Shot will be located near the Gemini roller coaster. There will be an extra charge to ride it.

In a press release, Jason McClure, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point, said, "These additions show our commitment to offering our guests the best in family fun for the 2014 season. With a collection of 72 rides, including 17 roller coasters, three kids’ areas, live shows, unique and interesting places to eat and spend the night, Cedar Point offers something fun for everyone.”

Cedar Point is also making changes to Camp Snoopy this year and starting a 2-year renovation project to Hotel Breakers.

The park opens Saturday, May 10.
