CLEVELAND - WEWS NewsChannel5 has launched a new television channel featuring health and lifestyle programming.
The "Live Well Network" is now carried on WEWS' 5.2 digital subchannel. It officially went on the air Monday, September 5.
Being on 5.2 means that the channel is broadcast in the same signal as the station's main channel, 5.1. Anyone within range of the transmitter with a UHF antenna and either a digital receiver box or a TV equipped with a digital tuner (ATSC) can pick up the station for free. Some TVs and tuners will automatically add 5.2, but some viewers will have to perform a "rescan" to get this channel added to their program listing.
For cable subscribers, the Live Well Network will be carried by Time Warner Cable on channel 986 starting September 7, on Massillon Cable channel 153 starting September 5 and Armstrong Cable channel 451 beginning September 30. Other cable systems will be added in the near future.
The Live Well Network, which is owned by the ABC Owned Television Group, will air 24/7 on WEWS. The network launched in April 2009 and is on target to reach more than half of all homes in the United States by the end of 2011.
The exactly lineup of programming isn't available yet, but WEWS will rebroadcast its noon newscast on weekdays from 1 to 2 p.m.
