Four days and counting until Katie Couric joins the talk show circuit and she couldn't be more excited.
It's smart talk, Katie style. Serving you a slice of topics you can relate to and guest that you want to know more about. The show promises to bring interesting conversation to your afternoon menu with a host that is known for her versatility.
I respect Katie's work as a broadcast journalist, but I also love her taste in shoes. So as I talked to her about the many aspects of her show, I had to sneak in a question about her shoe style. Because many women who will watch her show will notice and relate to her passion for chic footwear.
"I do like shoes", Katie says. "And I'm lucky that I am a size 6 and a half. From the knee down, that's my best attribute. I enjoy wearing shoes."
But Katie goes on to say that the great thing about her show is the presentation of a variety of different topics daily.
"Women, men, we're interested in a lot of different things and we could care deeply about what's going on in Afghanistan and about military suicide and want to know why we can't prevent the one military suicide that's occurring every single day. And yet on the other hand we can also have a lighter side that cares about things like fashion or hair or what's going on in different arenas or what the latest exercise trends are," she said.
Simply put, Katie believes her show will deliver a good balance of information that will keep viewers entertained and informed.
"There's no subject that we won't tackle that's too serious. I mean, we will go there. But we're also going to have a lot of fun. Because I think that in everybody's daily life there's a little bit of both," Katie said.
The Katie show is an appointment to gain insight about the world we live, and it will also give viewers a chance to learn more about Katie herself. I found out something I didn't know about her when I posed the question, "Would you like to say something to the Cleveland Browns' fans?"
"I know I'm not from Cleveland but the Cleveland Browns were my husband's very favorite football team because he went to Manhasset High School and that's where Jim Brown grew up and played lacrosse and football, and my husband was such a huge fan of Jim Brown. So, I feel a connection with the Browns even though I don't live in Cleveland," Katie said.
