Starlett Mitchell of Akron to compete on Let's Ask America game show Saturday

AKRON, Ohio - Starlett Mitchell of Akron will compete on "Let's Ask America " Saturday at 7:30 p.m. for a chance to win up to $50,000.

"Let's Ask America" is the TV game show where contestants can win money from the comfort of their own homes. Four contestants are chosen to play the game via Skype, answering questions about fun and irreverent topics to find out what people are thinking.

Mitchell, 39, was recommended to be on the game show by a woman from her vocational Bible school. Mitchell had never watched the show before she was interviewed.

"I did start watching the show after we spoke just to see what kind of game show it was and it looked exciting so I said why not. This was going to be my first game show if I made it," she said. "When they called me and said that I was going to be on I was in Washington on a business trip and I could not believe it."

After she learned she was chosen to be a contestant, Mitchell and her family began to watch Let's Ask America every night to prepare for her show. They played along to every game and it was the most fun Mitchell's family had in a long time.

During her taping, she wore her husband's Cleveland Browns shirt and her son's trophies and pictures from playing football and basketball were in the background.

"We are a sports family and we wanted to show the world that," she said.

Mitchell said she was very happy to be on the show and even more happy to share the experience with her family.

"Let's Ask America was something like a dream, but at the end it all came true. Thank you 'Let's Ask America' for picking me and letting my family experience the fun of a game show."
