LOS ANGELES - Jazz singer Harry Connick, Jr. will be joining the "American Idol" judges panel on the new season that starts in January.
Connick joins pop singer Jennifer Lopez and country star Keith Urban for the singing competition's 13th season.
Connick appeared on the show before as a mentor for contestants and he said he's excited to share his perspective each week.
Former judge and one of the original judges, Randy Jackson, will serve a new role on the show. Jackson will be the in-house mentor for the contestants.
