Would Kim Kardashian be famous without the Internet?

Ask any one of their collective 21 million Twitter followers and they'll tell you: the Kardashian sisters are the reigning Queens of Celebrity Internet Gossip. (The latest example? The photos of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West holding hands and attending restaurant openings.)

The sisters themselves are fully aware of that, to the point that Kim doesn't think they would be as famous without the Web.

"I think a lot of our fanbase, and a lot of our connection with people is Internet-based. I think the Internet has brought on a different kind of celebrity," Kim K. told Paper magazine in a recent interview. "We are very well aware of who we are, and what our place is. We are so active on Twitter, on our Facebook pages, we are writing back, we are connecting. We enjoy it."

But online warm and fuzzies aren't the only things the Kardashian sisters say they dish out. If you ridicule Kim on Twitter, you just might get a response.

"I love writing [fans] back," the reality star said. "People will write me, 'My phone battery lasts longer than Kim Kardashian's marriage,' and I'll write back, 'Oh, which phone is that?' When people are so stupid, you just have to have fun with it. Someone [without a profile photo] will say I'm fat, or a hairy Armenian, and I'll write back, 'Oh, that egg picture of yours is so gorgeous.'"
