MIAMI, Fla. - While Miami Heat player Chris Bosh was out celebrating turning 29, police said thieves ransacked his home Wednesday night and stole $340,000 worth of jewelry.
Police said Bosh called them when he and wife Adrienne arrived home from a nearby Miami club and found a jewelry drawer open and numerous watches, rings and purses missing.
The thieves did not take Bosh's NBA Championship ring and police said there were no signs of forced entry into the waterfront home.
Police were interviewing Bosh's housekeepers and anyone else, such as a contractor or repair person, who may have recently been to the home. They were also checking local pawn shops for the stolen items.
Bosh arrived at his birthday party Wednesday night via helicopter and a yacht. Numerous local and social media sites reported that most fellow Heat players were there, including LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.
Guests were greeted by a pair of real camels at the door and the birthday cake was a jewel-festooned chocolate elephant ridden by a miniature Bosh figure. Entertainment included belly dancers and fire eaters.
