Prince Philip to miss trip to Scotland

QUEEN ELIZABETH II will make her annual trip to Scotland without her husband PRINCE PHILIP for the first time in 60 years after doctors ordered him to skip the engagement.

The Duke of Edinburgh, 92, is recovering from an extended stay in hospital this month (Jun13) following stomach surgery on 7 June (13), and he will have to miss out on the planned royal trip to mark Scottish Week next month (Jul13).

The Queen will press ahead with the journey, which will mark 60 years since she last attended without her husband, and she will be joined by her son, Prince Edward, instead.

A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace says, "The Duke of Edinburgh is progressing according to plans. He is comfortable and in good spirits."
