Drake triumphs over Chris Brown at BET Awards

Rapper DRAKE triumphed over his arch rival CHRIS BROWN at Sunday's (30Jun13) BET Awards as he walked away with two top prizes.

Drake went into the prizegiving ahead of his competitors with 12 nominations, and eventually took home two awards, Video of the Year for his Started From The Bottom promo and Best Collaboration for F**kin' Problems, his track with 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar.

Lamar was the night's biggest success story, as well as his shared prize with Drake, he landed awards for Best New Artist and Best Male Hip-hop Artist.

Brown was presented with just one prize - the Fandemonium Award, for the artist with the most supportive fans, marking his fourth consecutive win in the category.

Rihanna was named Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Miguel was the recipient of the male version of the prize, and Best Female Hip-hop Artist went to Nicki Minaj.

Other winners included Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (Best Group), Jamie Foxx (Best Actor), Kerry Washington (Best Actress) and Mary Mary (Best Gospel Artist).

Singing legend Charlie Wilson was handed the Lifetime Achievement Award during a star-studded tribute which included speeches from Stevie Wonder, Pharrell Williams, Snoop Dogg and India.Arie, and he then graced the stage for a high-octane medley of his solo and The Gap Band hits with Justin Timberlake.

Brown and Minaj teamed up to kick off the show in Los Angeles with a rendition of their Love More duet. Mariah Carey also sang with Miguel, while Robin Thicke teamed up with Pharrell Williams and rapper T.I. for a rendition of their smash hit Blurred Lines.

Chris Tucker hosted the show at L.A.'s Nokia Theater, and also treated the A-list audience to his own performance in tribute to Michael Jackson.
