MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio - Philanthropists will gather to help Cleveland-area non-profits Monday during 13th annual Philanthropia.
The fundraiser welcomes people who write a check of at least $75 to the charity of their choice. The entire amount benefits the charity, and guest enjoy lunch and entertainment.
The event developed in 2001 out of the 9/11 tragedy. Local non-profit organizations struggled to reach their fundraising goals as people directed charitable donations to New York.
Over $1.2 million dollars has been raised during the fundraiser's 12 year history. Organizers set this year's goal at $150,000.
WEWS NewsChannel 5's Leon Bibb has served as the Master of Ceremonies for the event since its inception. The Singing Angels, a Cleveland youth chorus, will provide the entertainment.
Philanthropia is set for Monday, Dec. 9. Registration starts at 11 a.m. at Executive Caterers, 6111 Landerhaven Drive, Mayfield Heights. Lunch and the program begin at noon and run until 1:30 p.m.
More information is available online or by calling Landerhaven at 440-449-0700.
