35th Annual Mayfield Area Recreation Council Art Show

Jungle Series Quilt Exhibition

When: 9:00 a.m.

Where: Wayne Center for the Arts|-237 South Walnut Street, Wooster

Details: Join Kathryn Arango as she presents her colorful art quilts at the jungle Series exhibition at Wayne Center for the Arts. These narrative quilts illustrate Arango's newly published memoir, "Jungle, Solitutde, Dreams" which captures her adventures living in Colombia among exotic animals like jaguars and anacondas.The exhibition runs through Saturday, October 27.For more information on the exhibit call the Wayne Center for the Arts at (330) 264-2787.

Capital Punishment in Ohio Exhibit

When: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Where: Cleveland Police Museum (Justice Center)|-1300 Ontario Street, Cleveland

Details: Learn the history of capital punishment in Ohio. From public hangings to electrocutions, this exhibit explores how the final fates of criminals have been carried out in the state since 1803. "Inside Out and From the Ground Up"

When: 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Where: Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland|-11400 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland

Details: Check out this inaugural exhibit at MOCA Cleveland's new Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland. This exhibit spreads throughout the museum and features contemporary practice, physical constructions, scaled paintings, and experimental film and video. The exhibit runs through February 24, 2013.

Art in the Kitchen at PAA

When: 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Where: Peninsula Art Academy|-1600 West Mill Street, Peninsula

Excel II – Hands-On Class

Details: Join staff at the Rocky River Public Library for a hands-on tutorial on the Microsoft Excel. Learn the basics of the program, including entering and editing information, formatting characters, creating basic formulas, and working with worksheets. Also learn how to move and copy information, create formulas, work with functions, format numbers, and review printing features. Center for Intellectual Property Law and Technology Presents "The Impact of IP on Public Health"

Details: Join University of Akron law professors as they team with the Center for Intellectual Property Law and Technology to discuss the impact of IP on Public Health. Book Discussion for Those Touched by Cancer: "Breakfast with Buddah"

Details: Join staff at The Gathering Place as they host this drop-in support group for those coping with a cancer diagnosis. Enjoy breakfast while discussing Roland Merullo's "Breakfast with Buddah." This fictional piece is about a man who unwittingly finds what he's missing in the most unexpected place. Discuss the concepts of "Breakfast with Buddah" and how they apply to the cancer journey. Yoga for Those Touched by Cancer

Exercise Class for Those Touched by Cancer

Place Richman Family Wellness Center|-23295 Commerce Park, Beachwood

Details: Join staff at The Gathering Place for an exercise class designed for those coping with the side effects of cancer treatment. This exercise session includes resistance training using light weights, bands and balls, and strength equipment. Written medical authorization from your physician is required. New participants must first contact Beth Roth for an assessment prior to attending class. Hospice of the Western Reserve Volunteer Education Series

When: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Where: Hospice of the Western Reserve (Summit County)|-150 Springside Drive Suite A-100, Fairlawn

Details: Join the Hospice of the Western Reserve Summit County team and train to become a volunteer through this education series. Teen volunteers and adults interested in serving as a receptionist, public speaker, or community outreach specialist are asked to attend the first three training sessions. Adults interested in volunteering directly with hospice patients are asked to attend all seven training sessions in the series. Cleveland Metroparks CanalWay Center Spiders of the World

North Chagrin Reservation Trail Hike

Details: Join Cleveland Metroparks Naturalist Angelec Hillsman for a hike along the trails in the North Chagrin Reservation. Today's hike will include a six mile trek along the moderate terrain of the Bridle, Squire's Lane, Hemlock, Scenic Loop, and White Pine Loop trails. Dress appropriately.
