CLEVELAND -- Wife Swap,a show that will be part of ABC's fall line up is receiving a lot of attention from viewers.
The show, which has been successful in the United Kingdom, centers around two women swapping life experiences. Two matriarchs from two households trade places for 10 days, ABC officials said.At its heart, the program examines how couples share (or don’t share)
housework and child-rearing responsibilities, how they spend their money,
how they spend their free time, and how they deal with one another’s
personal habits. For the first five days of the challenge, they must obey the rules of the new family's lifestyle and adopt their daily routine, such as parenting, shopping, doing housework, and creating budgets.
How Do You Feel About Show?
For the remaining five days, these women get to run the new house their own way, which is a radical shock to both families.
ABC officials said the new series taps into America's voyeuristic tendencies and desires to judge how others run their households, raise their children and treat their spouses.
The show does not involve swinging sexually, nevertheless, but comments from ABC viewers are pouring in to some news stations. Each episode ends on a heartwarming note, with the two couples meeting to
discuss their experiences, and what they have learned. Almost without fail,
at least one "spouse" talks about wanting to spend more time with their
children, and the appreciation, love and respect they have for their
individual families. One ABC viewer wrote: "I am shocked that you would consider carrying this show. You are definitely turning into a porn channel. Unbelievable. Where is your decency! Shame on you!"Another viewer commented: "I am very concerned about ABC's plans to air "Trading Moms," based on the UK's version of "Wife Swap." This show is insulting to women, especially mothers. As my local ABC affiliate, I encourage your station to serve the public interest, by refusing to air this show and encouraging the ABC network to cancel plans to broadcast it."The show will air at 10 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesdays. If you are a family unit (two parents and children) who love an adventure, you can be a part of this ground breaking show.
