CLEVELAND -- It was up in the air for most viewers who watched "The Bachelor," a two-hour series finale Sunday night, until Kirsten's boyfriend issue came up. After that, it was clear that Jen was the winner.
Soon thereafter, Andrew proposed to Jen with a 3-carat oval shape diamond ring that was beautiful, wonderful, sparkling, and lovely. It was a bad (as in good) ring."I was so glad that I was finally able to tell Jen that I loved her," Andrew said. "Tell her how much she meant to me. I was so close to getting choked up, I was glad that I was able to make it through without falling apart. When Jen told me that she loved me, I melted. It was so good to have those words come out of her mouth. To hear her return those feelings, it was powerful."While Kirsten was taking the long ride home, she said it made her sick to think that Andrew was proposing to Jen. "I could throw up," she said. Well, gosh, but I think I would have had to throw up if Andrew had truly fallen for Kirsten. And I must admit that when Andrew told Kirsten that he had fallen in love with Jen, it looked like her face was going to crack. But let's back up a bit to how it all happened. After Andrew Firestone's brother put whiney, Oh, Kirsten, on front street with a question about her old flame, she literally blew it.Kirsten said that he, as in her boyfriend, may still think that they have a chance, but she knows that they do not.The siren started sounding and the yellow light started flashing.
Andrew's brother pulled his little brother aside and shared what he learned.
It appeared that Andrew was in shock and that a few tears welled up in his eyes, but that was the turning point. It seemed, however, that Kirsten handled herself OK when Andrew drilled her with a series of questions during their last date together, and that she reassured him that her heart was with him.Did anybody catch it when Andrew checked the pasta while Kirsten was explaining? He had already stopped listening to the whining machine. The monogrammed robes were also a tell-tale sign that Jen was the one. And when she left a videotaped message laying her heart on the line, his face lit up. To paraphrase, Jen said she was falling in love with Andrew. On the visits to the Firestone mansion, Kirsten thoroughly irritated me. The voice, the mannerisms, the playing with the hair, the glares -- it all bothered me. In fact, I don't think there's anything about Kirsten that I liked, and I was constantly trying to figure out how did she made it so far.The most interesting part of Jen's visit, in my opinion, was aired at the end of the show when she was sitting around the dinner table with the family doing the hippopotamus nose, a flaring of the nostrils.Several of the family members could do it and of course Jen could too.Her personality was contagious. She was bubbly, bright, adorable, beautiful, gracious, loving and just the overall best pick for Andrew. He kept saying how Jen made him feel throughout the series. She made him feel comfortable, at ease, he would say.He made him feel loved, and when he proposed it was wonderful. And yea, yea, I cried.
