Weekend Events: Book Signings, Jazz, Wine Tastings

There are a variety of events going on this weekend from book signings to poinsettia festivals.

FRIDAY

There will be a discussion and book signing with the Rev. Barbara Wallace Erkins at Borders Books and Music in Cleveland Heights Borders Books at 7 p.m. Erkins is the author of "By Any Other Name, It's Still Sex." The event is free.

Remember Dakota? He's the Frank Sinatra sound-alike. He will be performing at the Carousel Dinner Theater, 1275 East Waterloo Road in Akron at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $24 to $44.

Mark Reedy will perform at the Cleveland Improve at 8 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. Call (216) 969-4677 for more information.

"Richard III" is playing at the Cleveland State University, Factory Theatre, at 8 p.m. at $10.

Mostly Jazz will be at the Cuyahoga Community College, metro campus at 6 p.m. The cost is $15. The fund-raiser will benefit the youth of the Salvation Army Miles Park After-School Music program.

SATURDAY

There will be an ice wine tasting at the Chalet Debonne Vineyard in Madison from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Light appetizers will be served. The cost is $8.

"Write On, Cleveland" by Michelle Davis, a film and lecture, will be at the East Cleveland Public Library at 1 p.m. Davis will discuss the basics of working in markets outside Hollywood and New York. The event is free.

"The Night Must Fall" will be performing at 8 p.m. at the East Cleveland Theater at 8 p.m. The story is a classic murder mystery/thriller about a charming young psychopath with no feelings and a vast imagination. The cost is $10 to $12.

The Great American Gem Show is at the IX Center. Call (216) 676-6000 for times.

There will be a poinsettia festival at Lowe's Greenhouses in Chagrin Falls. The event is free.

The times are from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 23-24. and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 25.

SUNDAY

The Voices of the Goddess, a fund-raiser, will be at the Beachland Ballroom and Tavern, 15711 Waterloo, at 6 p.m. Sunday. The fee is $10.

A benefit concert for domestic violence for the Center Ohio Youth Ballet at the Broadway Street Theatre, located at 144 N. Broadway in Medina. The cost is $12. The Secret Rain, a play, will be performed at Case Western Reserve University, Eldred Theater at 2:30 p.m. The tickets are $5 and $10.

The Kid Stays In The Picture, a film, will be playing at the Cleveland Institute Of Art, Cinematheque at 7 p.m. the cost is $7. "On Golden Pond" is playing at Cleveland Play House, 8500 Euclid Ave., will be at 2 p.m. The cost is $32 to $47.50.

"The Wizard of Oz" will be performing at the Fine Arts Association, 38660 Mentor Ave., in Willoughby. The tickets are $17.
