Cedar Point Will Announce New Ride Soon

Expansion Is Likely In 2004

POSTED: 2:26 p.m. EST November 14, 2002

Cedar Point will announce its new ride within the next few weeks, according to a conference call to investors by Richard Kinzel, who is the chief executive officer of the park's parent company, Cedar Fair.

Kinzel said that the company is very pleased with the new-for-2001 Lighthouse Point and that an expansion is likely in 2004.

The main points of the conference have been outlined in the news section of Andrew Hyde's unofficial Cedar Point Web site: experiencethepoint.com.

Hyde said construction on what looks like a roller coaster, really went into full gear and the track on both sides of the tower now reaches its current top. It appears the ride will twist while going up and down the towers.

Also, Hyde has planned to travel to Cedar Point every few weeks either to fly over the park or to visit the marina across the bay, to keep everyone up-to-date with construction. To view photos of the new ride, click here.
