One of Cleveland's most famous and notable culinary chefs was named the "Next Iron Chef" on the Food Network.

Michael Symon, 38, the executive chef at his Lola and Lolita restaurants in Cleveland, picked up the honor Sunday night.

After competing for months, Symon beat out John Besh, of New Orleans, by creating five swordfish dishes, the secret ingredient unveiled for the championship round.

The show was actually taped in September, but Symon was sworn to secrecy.

NewsChannel5 was at Lolita in Tremont when the announcement was made. More than 200 family members, friends, fans and customers joined Symon to watch the program.

Symon will be going on a national publicity tour this week.
