Attorney Says O.J. Charges Overblown

Simpson Back Home In Florida

UPDATED: 4:25 pm EDT September 21, 2007

The lawyer for one of Simpson's co-defendants said the prosecution went overboard with the kind of charges they laid upon the former football star and the others.

Bill Terry is the attorney for Michael McClinton, who faces the same armed robbery, kidnapping and other counts Simpson does.

Simpson has been charged with allegedly barging into a hotel room at the Palace Station casino in Las Vegas, and stealing sports memorabilia from two collectors. The former NFL star faces 11 charges -- 10 of them felonies.

Terry argued that the kidnapping allegation "is fairly thin."

He suggested that the challenge to the kidnapping case will be that the incident took place in a single hotel room and a kidnapping charge suggests people are being moved against their will.

McClinton faced a hearing on his charges Thursday. His bail was set at $32,000, money his lawyer said that the defendant doesn't have.

Simpson arrived at the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., airport from Las Vegas Thursday after his release on a $125,000 bond in the case.

He left the airport in an SUV tailed by a herd of reporters and photographers.

Sixth Co-Defendant Surrenders

A sixth man sought in the armed robbery case against Simpson surrendered on Friday.

The man was taken into custody in Las Vegas after a brief hearing before a judge who set his bail at $32,000. A lawyer for the man said that he expects to post bail and return to Florida.

The sixth co-defendant faces the same charges as another man, who had been arraigned minutes earlier on charges including kidnapping, armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
