CLEVELAND -- Cleveland's largest charter school will reopen under different sponsorship and a new name.The International Preparatory School closed for several days after state Auditor Betty Montgomery last week called for its closing. Audits revealed the school was illegally spending state money and had poor accounting practices.About 100 parents and faculty showed up Tuesday evening for an emergency meeting, in which it was announced that the school will now be sponsored by the Ashe Culture Center.The school, located on South Miles Road, will also have a new name. It will now be called the Phoenix Village Academy.It is still unclear when the school will reopen under its new sponsorship.
