NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio - Eerie photos depict a devastating scene in North Ridgeville, where severe weather appears to have caused the most damage in the region.
The storm moved through the area at about 7 p.m. Monday and later spawned a funnel cloud that could be seen over North Royalton and Freedom.
For a couple mile stretch of Center Ridge Road in North Ridgeville, the damage is significant. NewsChannel5’s Paul Kiska said he saw uprooted trees, utility poles snapped in half, power lines down all over, shingles ripped of roofs and trees that fell into homes.
Our crews even found a 38-foot RV that was apparently blown over by strong winds during the storm. The RV was parked and not occupied at the time.
As a result of the damage, North Ridgeville police said Center Ridge Road is closed from Case to Stoney Ridge Road until further notice.
Meteorologists said the damage was caused by straight-lined winds, with the possibility of a microburst. Crews with the National Weather Service have yet to make a final ruling on the storm in this area, but are continuing their assessment.
