CLEVELAND - September 2012 cracked the top 10 wettest on record in Cleveland.

After an incredibly dry summer in northern Ohio, where several areas experienced a drought, September dumped several inches of rain across the region and ended the drought for nearly all of us, except across the southeast.

For the month, Cleveland received 7.6 inches of rain. During a normal September, we receive just under 4 inches of rain. So, we more than doubled our average.

When you look back into the record books, September 2012 ranks the fifth wettest on record. In 2011, the wettest on record in Cleveland, September ranked fourth with 8.3 inches of rain.

For the year, September allowed us to get back normal precipitation-wise. We're now a whopping .18 inches above normal for the year, with just more than 29 inches of rain.
