BELLVILLE, Ohio - Several rounds of torrential rain caused flash flooding near downtown Bellville in Richland County.
The Clear Fork River spilled over its banks, flooding homes and businesses Wednesday.
Large portions of several parking lots were washed away.
A large sinkhole was left behind near the bridge on state Route 13 that leads into downtown Bellville. The bridge appears to be OK, but the bridge is closed until workers can determine it is safe and not compromised. Parts of the asphalt continued to tumble into the deep sinkhole.
Meanwhile, some businesses are sandbagging while bracing for the possibility of additional flooding as more rain is expected.
