WINTER STORM WARNING through until 10 am SUNDAY for Geauga, Trumbull and Ashtabula.
We're seeing scattered snow showers, but expect some bands to form overnight and move inland. Some spots downwind of Lake Erie could see 3-6 inches overnight. Elsewhere, expect an inch or two.
Evening Update: Reports of up to 6 inches of snow since this morning across the region, mostly across the east, but also across the west. Norwalk reported 5 inches. Our bands are starting to shrink, as most of us are now snow free except for Geauga county. That trend should continue, but expect another 1-4 inches overnight.
Afternoon Update: Bands of lake effect snow are still hitting parts of the area, but we're starting to a decrease in the action. Expect squalls to become less organized and less intense by sunset before tapering later this evening. We can expect to see another 2-5 inches in the warning area.
12:38 pm Update: I-76 @ mm32: officer on scene, "As many EMS units as you can get 40+ cars with many many injuries."Brimfield, Kent, Rootstown, Ravenna, Tallmadge, OSHP, Portage Sheriff all working multiple accidents. RT44 at the Turnpike rollover....RT14 at Windmill Lake Golf OSHP reports head-on with entrapment multiple injuries. Numerous accident reports coming in now: I-76 westbound at SR 532 is currently closed due to a crash. Detour SR 43 south to US 224 west to I-77. Accident on I-90 WB at DEAD MANS CURVE.
Midday Update: Moderate to heavy snow bands have set up across the Warning Area now. The heaviest snows are now lined up from Painesville to Chardon & Hiram, then west through Cleveland to Medina & Elyria and Oberlin. These snow bands are capable of dumping between 1/2 inch to 1 inch per hour. Snow will also continue to fall in the advisory counties through the afternoon along with gusts near 35mph. Temps hovering near 20s w/ wind chills area-wide ranging from 0 to 10 degrees.
