CLEVELAND - 8:00 pm Update: Radar continues to show a few echoes of snow. These are not reaching the ground. The only reporting station showing snow is Cincinnati. Area should stay dry through at least midnight with cloudy skies. Temperatures will drop only a few degrees to near 30 by midnight.
4:30 pm Update: Drip, drip, drip. The weekend snow is melting as temperatures hang a couple of degrees above freezing for the rest of today. Skies will remain mostly cloudy through 8pm. High pressure moving east tonight will allow clouds to spread in from the west. These clouds are associated with a low pressure currently over the lower Ohio River Valley. This low will weaken as its moves east across Ohio on Tuesday. Light snow is likely beginning predawn tonight, mainly west of Lorain to Wooster line. Snow will spread east during the day Tuesday, giving all of us anywhere from a Trace to 2 inches of snowfall by late in the day. Highs on Tuesday will climb into the middle 30s. While the snow is not expected to be heavy, roadways will become slipper for the afternoon commute and for any evening plans you might have. The precipitation should stay all snow, with the exception of those living close to a Wooster to Youngstown line. Some milder air moving in from the south could change the snow over to rain for a brief period of time during the afternoon.
Noon Update: Temperatures are already in the low 30s with full sunshine.
Clouds will increase from west to east this evening as a disturbance moves toward the Ohio Valley. Look for up to 1" of snow by rush hour Tuesday morning. Storm total snowfall is still on track to reach 1-3" by Tuesday evening.
_____________
High pressure is providing clear skies across the state this morning. It will be a cold start, with temperatures in the upper teens and wind chills in the single digits.
We'll be melting snow this afternoon thanks to full sunshine. Highs will reach 32 degrees this afternoon. Look for increasing high clouds by evening. The sky will become mostly cloudy tonight.
Overnight, snow will develop ahead of our next weather system. Expect light accumulations, especially west of I-77 early Tuesday. Snow totals shouldn't exceed 1" by the morning rush.
Scattered snow will continue Tuesday afternoon and evening. A widespread 1-3" total is possible across Northeast Ohio, with a little rain mixing in to our southernmost counties. (Holmes, Tuscarawas, Stark.) Please check in for the latest forecast if you have Valentine's Day dinner plans!
Snow clears by Wednesday morning and a brief area of high pressure will keep us dry Wednesday afternoon. However, another storm system is taking aim at Ohio Thursday. This time, precipitation should be all rain. Temperatures will climb to the 40s Thursday.
