CLEVELAND - Weekend Update: Showers are gone now. So are most of the clouds. Skies should remain mostly clear overnight as high pressure builds in from the west. Temperatures are already in the 40s in some spots. Inland areas should have no trouble bottoming out in the lower and middle 40s tonight. Near Lake Erie and around the big cities of Cleveland & Akron, I would expect lower 50s.

Saturday: High pressure is in control! That means fair weather and sunshine all day. But, with a cool northwesterly wind flow, temperatures will struggle to reach back up into the upper 60s and lower 70s for highs.

Saturday night: Chilly! Clear and starry skies for everyone. Low temperatures in the 40 to 45 degree range. A little warmer in the big cities.

Sunday: Picture perfect weather for September. Sunny skies. Light winds. High temperatures in the low to mid 70s. Outstanding!

6:00 pm Update: The sun is shining across much of the area now! Showers will end area-wide by 7:30 pm! Temperatures now in the upper 50s & lower 60s.

4:00 pm Update: Rain showers will end quickly from northwest to southeast this evening. Dry weather is forecast for the High school football games tonight. Grab a sweater. Temperatures will hang in the 50s through the evening. Lows tonight under a mainly clear sky will drop into the upper 40s & lower 50s.

Saturday looks cool & dry. Bright sun will be the rule. Some computer forecasts suggest an isolated shower sliding southeast across Ashtabula County during the morning hours. But, the rest of the area should be rain-free. Highs will be cooler: in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.

Saturday night will be cool area-wide. Lows will drop into the 40s everywhere except along the Lake Erie Shoreline. SKies will remain clear through the night.

Sunday will be the nicest day of the weekend. Bright sunshine all day long with highs in the lower and middle 70s.

_______________

12:41 p.m. Update: Light to moderate rain is pushing across northeast Ohio from west to east this afternoon. Along with the light rain, expect a quick temperature drop. Akron, Canton and New Philly have already touched the upper 70s while 50s rush in. The good news is that the back edge of the rain will push through before sunset today leaving our Friday Night Football Games rain free. No need to bring the umbrella but don't leave home without a jacket. Temperatures will drop to near 60 before most games end this evening. We will wake up to 40s Saturday morning!

An approaching cold front will increase cloud cover this morning. Temperatures are mild, in the mid-to-upper 60s.

Scattered showers will arrive along the front after the morning rush but before Friday night football games. Most areas will see passing light rain between noon and 5 p.m.

Temperatures won't climb much today. Expect highs in just shy of 70 degrees.

The sky will gradually clear tonight as high pressure builds in from the west. Overnight lows will be cool, in the upper 40s.

Sunshine and pleasant temperatures are in store this weekend. Saturday will be mostly sunny with highs near 68 degrees. Look for more sunshine Sunday with warmer highs in the low 70s.

Another front arrives next Tuesday, triggering scattered showers. Much cooler air will accompany this front. Highs Tuesday through Thursday will hover in the 60s!
